Czerny Op 740 #23, 2 Versions

The first 32 measures of #23 make a stand-alone piece well suited to ballet class across a range of tempos, and not particularly difficult.

Op 740 #23, 1st Version: little 6/8 tune over running 16ths, 8 sets of 8

This is my performance, a bit under Czerny’s tempo, of #23, mm 1-32.

Those first 32 bars of #23 can be projected as a snappy 6/8 march--you just need to figure out what kind of LH accompaniment you want. But it’s a very short piece and you’d probably end up having to repeat it several times, even for an exercise at the barre. You can easily double its length by working up Czerny’s mm 33-48 with a turnaround that lands you in the tonic and a repeat of mm 17-32 with a final cadence

This is my performance of my 1st Version re-imagined as a ternary form 6/8 march, and with Czerny’s mm 33-48 reworked as an episode. I provide a score to show my ideas for the LH and for reworking Czerny’s mm 33-48.
